Preschool Openings for Student Peer Models

Franklin Special School District provides a Special Education Preschool program to meet the needs of three- to five-year-old children who have developmental delays. This school-based program includes positive peer role models in each Special Education Preschool class. The inclusion model provides a wide range of learning opportunities and the least restrictive environment that is both stimulating and challenging for both groups of children. The program also promotes belonging, friendships, understanding and acceptance of others who are different. The school day is 6 hours – generally 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM – Monday through Friday beginning the first day of school. We are currently accepting enrollment applications for typically developing positive peer role models to complete this program. Eligible students must be 4 years old by August 1 and reside in or have a parent employed in the Franklin Special School District. Preschool Positive Peer Model...

FSSD Ranked #1 in State for Teacher Support

The Franklin Special School District is proud to be ranked #1 in the state for Teacher Support, out of 107 total districts reviewed, by Teacher.org. “The FSSD is blessed to have a teaching force that is dedicated and passionate about meeting the academic, social, physical and emotional needs of our students,” said Director of Schools Dr. David Snowden. “It is the district’s responsibility to provide the support needed to assist them in all areas of their responsibilities. Some criteria included: class size, administrator and support staff availability, and student proficiency levels. Snowden added, “Our goal is to consistently build upon the support provided to our teachers to enhance their opportunities for success in meeting individual student...
