The Franklin Special School District is proud to partner with STARS – Nashville to present Bullying Prevention: A Culture of Kindness on Thursday, October 20, at 6:00 p.m. at Freedom Middle School. The guest speaker will be Rodger Dinwiddie, Executive Director of Nashville STARS and Past President of the International Bullying Prevention Association. The focus of the seminar will be on understanding the impact of bullying on students, families and the community, as well as the necessity of developing the social, emotional competence of caring about others and how important this skill is in every area of our lives.
“There are countless programs, strategies and ideas to address the insidious issue of bullying. And, while there is great research around what does work, there is no dispute that focusing on developing a culture of kindness is one of the most successful ways to address aggression and bullying in all its forms,” according to Mr. Dinwiddie. “The FSSD has made a commitment to support students and families through a focus on kindness via the Be Nice campaign.”
This seminar is open to anyone who wants to hear more about how to develop a culture of kindness that will reflect the character traits you want to see in our youth.
