The work that FSSD families have done in helping your children with their continued learning through this closure has been incredible. Whether you have completed all or some of your instructional review packets, we want to congratulate and thank you. Your partnership means so much to us! Most importantly, we want you to take care of you and your family’s health and emotional needs first, so please know that these instructional review packets are secondary to that.

We are preparing for the third and final student review packet pickup to be held on Friday, May 1st, from 8:00 until 1:00. These packets will also be available online and may be accessed by logging in with your child’s Google account using Clever at

Teachers and principals remain available to answer questions related to continuous learning and will respond within 24 hours (Monday through Friday). For questions related to Continuous Learning, please contact your teacher or principal.

Because we will not reopen prior to the 2020-2021 school year, we want to share some of our plans to close out the school year:

  • Students in grades 5-8 have been offered the opportunity to use secure FSSD email accounts to contact their teachers and school counselors with questions or concerns without having to post on a Google classroom site. (Information on how to access student email and how to opt out was sent in a previous email to families of students in grades 5-8 on April 20).
  • Return of district/school owned property (including Chromebooks, musical instruments, textbooks, library books, etc.), as well as the pickup of students’ personal property left at school, will occur the week of May 18-22. Student belongings will be gathered from classrooms and lockers, then bagged and labeled for pickup to avoid having large groups in the buildings. School principals will communicate the schedule for drop-off/pick-up with you.
  • We are just a week away from the April 30th deadline for next school year’s registration and only half of our families have completed this process. It is important for us to know who is returning in the fall so we can place students with teachers and create schedules. If you have not yet registered online for the 2020-2021 school year, please do so this week by going to to complete this 5-minute process.
  • A decision about the Young Scholars Institute will be made in mid-May after consulting with city and state officials.

As a reminder, the FSSD COVID-19 webpage provides lots of resources, including information on the free meal program hours and locations, how free wi-fi and other community resources can be accessed, and technology support for various online resources.

Your support and partnership has been tremendous. We cannot count the number of notes, emails, phone calls and social media posts of support, love and encouragement we have received and want you to know that these have sustained our teachers, staff and administrators throughout these difficult weeks. Before this extended time apart, we knew we were in a special community; but as our resilience has been tested, we are more certain than ever that we are all #FSSDstrong.

Please reach out to your teachers, counselors, principals or district office if you have any needs or concerns. We are here for you. We remain hopeful that you and your family are safe and healthy until we are together again.
